follow the upper radiator hose to were it connects to the engine that is the thermostat housing,be sure to open the small radiator petcock valve at the bottom of the radiator(be sure vehicle is cool)remove hose from thermostat housing,remove thermostat housing taking note on how the thermostat sits cause that is how the new one will sit spring toward engine block,clean mating surfaces gasket may consist of a paper gasket or oring,be sure to brush offf any residue on the mounting bolt threads and replace if they look stretched or pitted,dont over tighten and use a small amount of silicone if a paper gaket is used a o-ring would be instaled dry,reconect radiator hose make sure radiator drain is closed,and fill with 50/50 mix of coolant and bleed system if equipped with bleeders,if unsure consult repair manual hopes this helps.How to change the thermostat in a 98 Ford Taurus?
