Possible head-gasket failure, have you checked for mayonnaise on the oil filler cap ?

In any case you will need a diagnostic test to find out the problem.

blown head gasket?Problems with a vauxhall vectra on an S plate?
Sounds like a fractured cylinder head gasket.

You can usually tell if there is water present in the engine oil.

Bad news really.

Head gaskets are bascially a cheap replacement

Unfortunately now certain motor manufacturers key code every replacement part and it will cost more to unlock that part than it will to fit it including labourProblems with a vauxhall vectra on an S plate?
Are you losing water? is it really overheating? (or is the gauge faulty) is the water-pump circulating the coolant? (remove rad. cap and, when warm, is the coolant moving across filler neck?) could be that the impeller has sheared off, (very rare)...is the heater very hot?Problems with a vauxhall vectra on an S plate?
Hi

If you have not got air in the system, then your water pump is faulty, run the engine for 20 minutes and see if the water pipes are solid if they are then you have a head gasket problem if they aren't solid then the water pump has failed, you will need to replace the pump and fit a new cam belt as the water pump is driven by the cam belt, never refit old belt.
